So you’ve booked your consultation — congrats! Your first laser session at Waxonomy Frisco is where the real magic begins. Here’s exactly what happens: from arriving to aftercare, and what you can expect along the way.
1. The Consultation: Setting You Up for Success
Before your first actual laser treatment, we begin with a consultation. During this consult we discuss your lifestyle, budget, and most importantly — your hair-removal goals. We assess your hair type, skin tone, and determine whether the laser we use (our modern Splendor X) is a good match for you. This ensures the safest and most effective results.
You’ll also get a chance to ask any questions: about how many sessions you might need, what results to expect, how to care for your skin before/after treatment, and anything else on your mind. At Waxonomy, we want you to feel informed, comfortable, and confident before you begin.
2. Arrival & Prep — Comfort First
On the day of your first laser session:
-
We’ll ask you to come in with clean skin, free of lotions, oils, deodorants, fragrances or self-tanners — so that the laser can target just the hair follicles.
- All treatment skin areas must be shaved. NOT plucked or waxed.
-
Your technician (esthetician) will walk you through the process, make sure you’re comfortable, and explain how our Splendor X machine works — including its cooling system that helps make treatment more comfortable.
We take pride in having a welcoming, calm atmosphere — we want your first laser session to feel as relaxing and stress-free as possible.
3. Test Patch & First Laser – Easing You In
Before treating the full area, we usually perform a test patch. That way you get a feel for what the laser feels like (how it snaps or pulses), and we can confirm the settings are right for your skin and hair type. This step helps us build trust and tailor treatment for your comfort and safety.
Once the test patch feels good, we begin the full treatment. The laser light pulses — you may feel a quick snapping or slight warm sensation (many people compare it to a rubber-band snap). The built-in cooling helps make things more comfortable.
Because this is your first session, we’re attentive: we check in with you throughout, and we always allow breaks if you need one.
The duration depends on the area you’re treating — small or sensitive areas may be faster, larger areas take longer.
4. Right After — What You Should Know
Immediately after treatment, it’s common for skin in the treated area to be slightly red or feel warm — similar to a mild sunburn. That’s normal, and typically fades within a few hours to a day or two.
We’ll give you instructions for aftercare: avoid hot showers, saunas, heavy exercise; keep the area clean, avoid irritants; and protect your skin from sun exposure.
5. What Happens Next: Hair Shedding & The Journey Ahead
After your first session — don’t expect hair to disappear instantly forever. Instead, most clients notice shedding over the next few weeks, and hair may begin to grow back lighter and more fine.
Because hair grows in cycles, you’ll likely need to come back for multiple sessions (as discussed at your consult) to achieve long-lasting reduction. At Waxonomy, we tailor your treatment plan to your hair type, skin type, and goals — so we’ll guide you through how many sessions might be best for you.
